激動の幕末を舞台に、言葉を失った異国の少女と、言葉を話さず山奥に隠れ住む謎の男の出会いと数奇な運命を描いたアクション時代劇。「ウルトラマン」シリーズのスーツアクターをはじめ、スタントマンやアクション俳優として活動する丸山貢治が主演・監督・脚本を手がけ、自身の主宰する劇団丸組で上演した舞台「山猫」を映画版として生まれ変わらせた。丸山監督が自らアクション監督も務め、現代的なアレンジを加えた殺陣や素手のファイトを用いたアクションシーンを散りばめて描き出す。 目の前で母親を殺されたショックで言葉を失った異国の少女クレア。薩摩藩から逃れ京都に辿り着いた彼女は、鞍馬山の奥深くにたったひとりで生きる、言葉を話さない謎の男・山猫と出会う。言葉を交わさなくともクレアを守る山猫だったが、そんな2人の前に立ちはだかったのは薩摩藩の追手ではなく、幕府が送り込んだ新選組だった。 言葉を失った少女クレアを「小さな恋のうた」「翔んで埼玉 琵琶湖より愛をこめて」のトミコ・クレア、謎の男・山猫を丸山貢治が演じ、特撮ドラマ「ウルトラマントリガー」シリーズの豊田ルナが共演。
An action period drama set against the turbulent final days of the Tokugawa shogunate, depicting the encounter and strange fate between a foreign girl who has lost her voice and a mysterious man who lives hidden deep in the mountains without speaking. Koji Maruyama, who works as a suit actor in the Ultraman series as well as a stuntman and action actor, handles starring, directing, and screenwriting duties, transforming the stage play "Yamaneko" performed by his own theater troupe Marugumi into a film. Director Maruyama also serves as action director, filling the film with action scenes featuring sword fights with a modern arrangement and bare-handed combat. Claire, a foreign girl who lost her voice from the shock of watching her mother be killed before her eyes, escapes from the Satsuma Domain and reaches Kyoto, where she encounters a mysterious man called Yamaneko who lives alone deep in Mount Kurama and does not speak. Though they exchange no words, Yamaneko protects Claire—but standing before the two is not a pursuer from the Satsuma Domain, but the Shinsengumi sent by the shogunate. Tomiko Claire, of "Little Love Song" and "Fly Me to the Saitama: From Biwa Lake with Love," plays the voiceless girl Claire, Maruyama plays the mysterious man Yamaneko, and Luna Toyoda of the tokusatsu drama "Ultraman Trigger" series co-stars.
