ロケット・マツ率いるアコースティックオーケストラバンド「パスカルズ」のドキュメンタリー。 1995年に結成され、幸福感に満ちた独自のサウンドで人気を集めるパスカルズ。「さかなのこ」「川っぺりムコリッタ」など映画・テレビドラマ・舞台の音楽も数多く手がけ、海外でもフランスを中心に高く評価されている。約25年間にわたって同じメンバーで活動を続けてきた彼らだったが、2020年4月、チェロを担当する三木黄太が急逝。コロナ禍の2021年春と翌22年春に開催された追悼ライブの模様を中心に記録し、“不在という在り方”を抱える彼らの音楽を映し出す。 監督は「奈緒ちゃん」「いまはむかし 父・ジャワ・幻のフィルム」などのドキュメンタリー映画監督・伊勢真一。
A documentary about the acoustic orchestra band "Pascals," led by Rocket Matsu. Formed in 1995, the group has garnered popularity for their unique, euphoric sound. They have composed numerous scores for films, television dramas, and stage productions—including *The Fish Child* and *Riverside Mukolitta*—and have received high acclaim internationally, particularly in France. While the band had performed with the same lineup for approximately 25 years, cellist Kota Miki passed away suddenly in April 2020. Focusing on memorial concerts held in the spring of 2021 and 2022 during the pandemic, the film captures their music as they grapple with "a presence defined by absence." Directed by Shinichi Ise, the documentary filmmaker behind *Nao-chan* and *Now is Past: My Father, Java & the Phantom Films*.
