ニューヨーク・メトロポリタン歌劇場（MET）の最新オペラ公演を映像収録し、映画館で上映する「METライブビューイング」2025～26シーズンの第7作。人生を悲観する青年貴族と無垢な少女の愛のすれ違いの悲劇を、チャイコフスキーによる叙情的な名旋律でつづったオペラ「エフゲニー・オネーギン」を収録（2026年5月2日上演舞台を収録）。 1820年代のロシア。女地主の娘タチヤーナとオリガの姉妹のもとへ、オリガの婚約者レンスキーが友人エフゲニー・オネーギンを連れて現れる。オネーギンに一目ぼれしたタチヤーナは思いを手紙にしたためるが、オネーギンは冷たい返事を寄越す。数カ月後、タチヤーナの聖名を祝う舞踏会でオネーギンはオリガとばかり踊り、レンスキーに決闘を挑まれた末に彼を撃ち殺してしまう。数年後、放浪から戻ってきたオネーギンは、公爵夫人となったタチヤーナに再会する。
The seventh installment of the "MET Live Viewing" 2025-26 season, which captures and screens the latest opera performances from the New York Metropolitan Opera House in cinemas. This recording features Tchaikovsky's opera "Eugene Onegin," a tragedy of love and misunderstanding between a pessimistic young nobleman and an innocent girl, set to lyrical, famous melodies (recording of the performance staged on May 2, 2026). In 1820s Russia, at the estate of a landowner, sisters Tatyana and Olga are visited by Olga's fiancé Lensky, who brings his friend Eugene Onegin. Tatyana falls in love with Onegin at first sight and writes him a letter confessing her feelings, but Onegin gives a cold reply. Months later, at a ball celebrating Tatyana's name day, Onegin dances only with Olga, provoking Lensky to challenge him to a duel, in which Onegin kills him. Years later, returning from his wanderings, Onegin reunites with Tatyana, who has become a duchess.
