米ニューヨーク・メトロポリンタン歌劇場（MET）で行われる最新のオペラ公演を劇場のスクリーンで上映する「METライブビューイング」2010～11年シーズンの12作目。ワーグナーの全4部からなる大作オペラ「ニーベルングの指環」の第2部。主神ボータンが人間に産ませた兄妹ジークムントとジークリンデはお互いを知らずに育ち、禁断の愛に落ちてしまう。ジークムントはジークリンデの夫フンディングと決闘することになり、ボータンの娘ブリュンヒルデはジークムントを勝たせようとするが、自身の思いと神としての立場の間で葛藤（かっとう）するボータンはそれを阻む。

The 12th work of the 2010-11 season of 'MET Live in HD,' which screens the latest opera performances from the Metropolitan Opera in New York on theater screens. The second part of Wagner's epic four-opera cycle 'Der Ring des Nibelungen.' The siblings Siegmund and Sieglinde, fathered by the chief god Wotan with a mortal, grow up without knowing each other and fall into forbidden love. Siegmund is forced into a duel with Sieglinde's husband Hunding. Wotan's daughter Brünnhilde tries to let Siegmund win, but Wotan, torn between his own feelings and his position as a god, prevents it.
