数多くのピンク映画に出演し「ポルノの帝王」「キング・オブ・ピンク」と呼ばれた俳優・久保新二にスポットを当て、日本映画の裏街道を駆け抜けた50年の俳優人生に迫ったドキュメンタリー。 高校中退後に劇団ひまわりに入所し、1966年に若松孝二監督作「血は太陽よりも赤い」で映画デビューした久保新二は、ピンク映画の黎明期から多くの作品に出演し、その出演本数は800本以上にもおよんだ。2024年5月に逝去するまでの50年以上にわたる彼の俳優人生は、これまであまり語られてこなかった日本映画の裏面とも言える。自分の姿を残したいという久保の生前の願いから撮影された本作では、さまざまな監督とのゲリラでアナーキーな撮影現場や、ピンク映画で喜劇を演じるようになり山本晋也監督と「未亡人下宿」というヒットシリーズを生み出していった裏側など、映画史に残る事件の数々を振り返る。そして、久保が十数年の決別を経て、ある人物と対峙する姿を映し出す。 監督は2004年製作の映画「1リットルの涙」の脚本家として知られる田中貴大。
This documentary spotlights actor Shinji Kubo, known as the 'Emperor of Porn' and 'King of Pink' for his countless appearances in pink films, tracing his 50-year career racing down the backstreets of Japanese cinema. After dropping out of high school, Kubo joined the theater troupe Himawari and made his film debut in 1966 with Koji Wakamatsu's 'Blood Is Redder Than the Sun.' From the early days of pink film, he appeared in numerous works, totaling over 800 films. His acting career, spanning more than 50 years until his passing in May 2024, represents a hidden side of Japanese cinema rarely discussed. Shot from Kubo's own wish to leave behind a record of himself, the film revisits landmark events in film history—guerrilla and anarchic shoots with various directors, the behind-the-scenes story of how he came to play comedy in pink films and created the hit 'Widow's Boarding House' series with director Shinya Yamamoto, and more. It also captures Kubo confronting a certain person after more than a decade of estrangement. Directed by Takahiro Tanaka, known for scripting the 2004 film '1 Litre of Tears.'
