遥かな町へ
「孤独のグルメ」の作画などで知られる漫画家・谷口ジローが1998年に発表し、2010年にルクセンブルク・フランス・ドイツの合作で映画化された名作漫画「遥かな町へ」を日本で新たに実写映画化。人生の折り返し地点を迎えた中年男性が中学時代にタイムスリップし、友人や初恋の人との再会、家族との時間を通して、自らの人生の選択を見つめなおす姿を描く。 建築デザイナーとして働く48歳の中原博史は、仕事の出張帰りに故郷・鳥取の倉吉を訪れる。母の墓参りを済ませた帰り道、彼はなぜか1963年の町に迷い込んでしまう。そこには若き日の母や、妹、祖母、そして後に失踪する父の姿があった。意識は48歳のまま14歳の自分の身体に戻った博史は、思春期の少年として、再び家族と向き合うことになる。 大谷亮平が博史役で主演を務め、1963年に生きる14歳の博史を及川桃利、博史の初恋相手・長瀬智子を磯谷萌々子、博史の両親を滝藤賢一と戸田菜穂がそれぞれ演じた。「RAILWAYS 49歳で電車の運転士になった男の物語」「たたら侍」など地域に根ざした物語を描いてきた錦織良成が監督・脚本を担い、現在も昭和30年代の町並みが残る倉吉市でロケを敢行した。
A new Japanese live-action adaptation of the acclaimed manga "A Distant Neighborhood," published in 1998 by Jiro Taniguchi, known for his artwork on "Kodoku no Gourmet," and previously adapted into a Luxembourg-France-Germany co-production in 2010. The film depicts a middle-aged man at the midpoint of his life who slips back in time to his junior high school days, and through reunions with friends and his first love, as well as time with his family, reexamines the choices he has made in life. Hiroshi Nakahara, 48, works as an architectural designer and visits his hometown of Kurayoshi in Tottori on his way back from a business trip. After visiting his mother's grave, on his way home he somehow wanders into the town as it was in 1963. There he finds his mother in her youth, his younger sister, his grandmother, and his father, who would later go missing. With his consciousness remaining that of a 48-year-old but returned to his 14-year-old body, Hiroshi faces his family once again as an adolescent boy. Ryohei Otani stars as Hiroshi, with Momoka Oikawa as the 14-year-old Hiroshi living in 1963, Momoko Isogai as Hiroshi's first love Tomoko Nagase, and Kenichi Takito and Naho Toda as Hiroshi's parents. Yoshinari Nishikori, who has depicted stories rooted in local communities such as "RAILWAYS: The Story of a Man Who Became a Train Driver at 49" and "Tatara Samurai," directs and writes the screenplay, with filming conducted on location in Kurayoshi, where streetscapes from the Showa 30s era still remain.
