世界有数の平和博物館・広島平和記念資料館の70年以上にわたる歴史と、そこに込められたメッセージを伝えるドキュメンタリー。 1955年に開館し、2025年には来館者数が累計8000万人を超えた広島平和記念資料館（通称・原爆資料館）。「もう二度と原爆の惨禍を繰り返してはならない」との思いから、原爆で溶けた瓦や石などの瓦礫を集め、市内の公民館で「原爆参考資料陳列室」を開いた地質学者・長岡省吾の執念と努力によって生まれ、歴代の館長たちが命を削って守り続けてきた。2万2000点を超える遺品や資料などを収蔵し、2006年には丹下健三の設計による本館建物が戦後建築として初めて国の重要文化財に指定された。2025年度には年間入館者数が250万人を突破し、3年連続で過去最多を更新。そのうち約4割が外国人で、世界からの注目度も高まっている。 広島ホームテレビ報道部の立川直樹と斉藤俊幸が共同で監督を務め、100時間以上の素材から掘り起こした貴重なアーカイブ映像や新たな証言などを通し、核の恐ろしさと平和を静かに訴え続ける唯一無二の原爆資料館に込められた思いを映し出す。「ドライブ・マイ・カー」「悪は存在しない」の石橋英子が音楽を手がけた。
A documentary conveying the over-70-year history and message of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, one of the world's leading peace museums. Opened in 1955, the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum (commonly known as the Atomic Bomb Museum) had surpassed 80 million cumulative visitors by 2025. Born from the determination and efforts of geologist Shogo Nagaoka, who collected debris like tiles and stones melted by the atomic bomb and opened an "Atomic Bomb Reference Materials Exhibition Room" in a local community center with the wish to "never repeat the tragedy of the atomic bomb," it has been preserved by successive directors who have dedicated their lives to it. Housing over 22,000 artifacts and materials, the main building designed by Kenzo Tange was designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan in 2006, the first post-war building to receive this honor. In fiscal year 2025, annual visitors exceeded 2.5 million, setting a new record for the third consecutive year. About 40% of visitors are from overseas, and global attention continues to grow. Co-directed by Naoki Tachikawa and Toshiyuki Saito of the Hiroshima Home TV news department, the film reveals the thoughts embedded in this unique Atomic Bomb Museum, which quietly continues to appeal against the horror of nuclear weapons and for peace, through valuable archive footage and new testimonies unearthed from over 100 hours of material. Music is by Eiko Ishibashi of "Drive My Car" and "Evil Does Not Exist."
