埼玉県さいたま市の沼影市民プールが営業を終えるまでの49日間を記録したドキュメンタリー。 「海なき市にプールを」という市民の願いから1971年に誕生した沼影市民プールは、人々の憩いと出会い、そして健康を支える場として、52年間で約600万人が訪れた。しかし2021年、さいたま市はプールの解体と、小中一貫校の建設を発表する。存続を求めて900通を超えるパブリックコメントや1万人以上からの署名が寄せられたものの計画は進み、2024年3月、沼影市民プールは静かにその役目を終えた。 「わたしたちに許された特別な時間の終わり」「解放区」などの太田信吾監督が、沼影市民プールが営業終了の日を迎えるまでの49日間にカメラを向け、公共施設の喪失が市民に何をもたらすのかを見つめていく。制作段階において、チェコのカルロヴィ・ヴァリ国際映画祭2024にて日本企画として初となる「First Cut+ Works in Progress Award」を受賞。完成後も第30回釜山国際映画祭ワイドアングル部門、第27回テッサロニキ国際ドキュメンタリー映画祭などに出品された。

A documentary recording the final 49 days of Numakage Civic Pool in Saitama City, Saitama Prefecture, until it closed its doors for good. Born in 1971 from citizens' wishes for "a pool in a city without a sea," Numakage Civic Pool served as a place of rest, encounter, and health for the community, visited by approximately 6 million people over 52 years. However, in 2021, Saitama City announced the pool's demolition and the construction of an integrated elementary and junior high school. Despite over 900 public comments and petitions signed by more than 10,000 people calling for its preservation, the plan proceeded, and in March 2024, Numakage Civic Pool quietly ended its role. Director Shingo Ota, known for works like "The End of the Special Time We Were Allowed" and "Liberated Zone," turns his camera on the 49 days leading up to the pool's final day of operation, examining what the loss of a public facility brings to citizens. During the production phase, it became the first Japanese project to receive the "First Cut+ Works in Progress Award" at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival 2024 in the Czech Republic. After completion, it was also screened at the 30th Busan International Film Festival's Wide Angle section and the 27th Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival.
