4時間を超えるミステリー長編「トレンケ・ラウケン」がフランスのカイエ・デュ・シネマ誌で2023年の年間ベストテン第1位に選ばれるなど、国際的にも注目の高まるアルゼンチンの女性監督ラウラ・シタレラが、2011年に発表したデビュー作。日常に潜むフィクションにのめり込む女性を描いた。 ラジオのクイズコンテストの懸賞で、ブエノスアイレス近郊オステンデのホテルに宿泊することになったラウラ。リゾートはシーズンオフで、後から合流する彼氏を待つ間、彼女は2人の若い女を連れてホテルに滞在する中年男を観察しはじめる。男の奇妙な態度に好奇心をくすぐられ、ひそかに繰り広げられているかもしれない男をめぐる物語を解き明かそうと想像をふくらませてゆくラウラだったが……。 「トレンケ・ラウケン」の劇場公開にあわせた特集上映「ラウラ・シタレラ監督特集 響きあう秘密」にて日本劇場初公開。
The 2011 debut film from Argentine director Laura Citarella, who has garnered significant international acclaim after her four-hour-plus mystery epic *Trenque Lauquen* was named the best film of 2023 by France’s *Cahiers du Cinéma*. The story follows a woman who becomes immersed in the fictions lurking within everyday life. After winning a radio quiz contest, Laura stays at a hotel in Ostende, near Buenos Aires. It is the off-season at the resort, and while waiting for her boyfriend to join her, she begins to observe a middle-aged man staying at the hotel with two young women. Intrigued by the man’s peculiar behavior, Laura lets her imagination run wild as she attempts to unravel the secret narrative that may be unfolding around him... The film makes its Japanese theatrical debut as part of the special screening program "Laura Citarella Retrospective: Resonating Secrets," held in conjunction with the theatrical release of *Trenque Lauquen*.
