ロンドンパンクを代表するバンド「ザ・クラッシュ」の元メンバーで、2002年12月に急逝したジョー・ストラマーの最後の姿を捉えたドキュメンタリー。ストラマーが率いたバンド「ジョー・ストラマー＆ザ・メスカレロス」の2001年アメリカツアー、02年日本ツアーを追い、ツアー各地でのライブや楽屋裏、プロモーション活動、インタビューなどの映像で構成。ライブ前に自ら手書きのチラシを配る姿なども収められ、張り詰めた反抗の姿勢のザ・クラッシュ時代とは異なる、人間味にあふれたストラマーの姿が映し出される。04年に製作・公開。ザ・クラッシュの「ロンドン・コーリング」リリース40周年を記念し、19年12月にもデジタルリマスター版でリバイバル公開される。監督は、アレックス・コックスの「ストレート・トゥ・ヘル」などでストラマーと共演したこともあり、ストラマーと交友もあったディック・ルード。
A documentary capturing the final days of Joe Strummer, former member of the quintessential London punk band The Clash, who passed away suddenly in December 2002. The film follows Strummer's band 'Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros' on their 2001 US tour and 2002 Japan tour, composed of live performances, backstage footage, promotional activities, and interviews from various tour stops. It includes scenes of him personally handing out handwritten flyers before shows, revealing a warm, human side of Strummer that contrasts with the tense, rebellious stance of his Clash days. Produced and released in 2004. To commemorate the 40th anniversary of The Clash's 'London Calling,' a digitally remastered version was revived in theaters in December 2019. Directed by Dick Rude, who had befriended Strummer and even appeared alongside him in Alex Cox's 'Straight to Hell.'
