戦後日本を代表する人形劇団ひとみ座が共同映画社と製作した作品。出雲神話に登場する国造りの神・おおあなむちが、幾多の試練を乗り越えて成長する姿を描く。児童映画界に大きな足跡を残した木村が、人形劇ならではの豊かな造形と躍動感あふれる演出によって、勇気と知恵、そして他者との助け合いの大切さを生き生きと伝えている。
A work co-produced by Hitomiza, one of postwar Japan's leading puppet theater companies, and Kyodo Film Company. It depicts the growth of Onamuchi, the nation-building deity from Izumo mythology, as he overcomes numerous trials. Kimura, who left a significant mark on the world of children's cinema, uses the rich modeling and dynamic staging unique to puppet theater to vividly convey the importance of courage, wisdom, and mutual assistance.
