「情事」「赤い砂漠」で知られるイタリアの巨匠ミケランジェロ・アントニオーニが1953年に手がけた長編2作目で、フランス、イタリア、イギリスの各都市を舞台に、罪を犯す若者たちの姿を描いた群像劇のオムニバス。 パリ、ローマ、ロンドン。それぞれの街で、金銭欲や虚栄心、あるいは満たされない退屈から、青年たちが殺人や密輸といった犯罪に手を染めていく。豊かさを取り戻しつつある戦後社会の繁栄の裏側で、進むべき道を見失った若い世代の精神的な空白と、揺らいでいく価値観が静かに浮かび上がっていく。 監督・原案・脚本をアントニオーニが担い、「白夜」「山猫」などビスコンティ作品で知られるイタリアを代表する脚本家スーゾ・チェッキ・ダミーコ、作家ジョルジョ・バッサーニが共同脚本に名を連ねる。犯罪の背後にある疎外感や無気力を冷静に見つめるまなざしは、後のアントニオーニ作品へと受け継がれていく。日本では2026年8月の特集上映「ミケランジェロ・アントニオーニ レトロスペクティヴ 愛の不毛、彷徨える魂」にて、2K修復版で劇場初公開。
The second feature film by Italian master Michelangelo Antonioni, known for "L'Avventura" and "Red Desert," made in 1953. An omnibus ensemble drama depicting young people who commit crimes, set in cities across France, Italy, and England. Paris, Rome, London. In each city, driven by greed for money, vanity, or unfulfilled boredom, young people turn to crimes such as murder and smuggling. Against the backdrop of postwar prosperity regaining its wealth, the spiritual emptiness of a younger generation that has lost its way, and shifting values, quietly come to the surface. Antonioni handled direction, original story, and screenplay, with Suso Cecchi D'Amico, a leading Italian screenwriter known for Visconti works like "White Nights" and "The Leopard," and writer Giorgio Bassani co-writing the script. His gaze, calmly observing the alienation and apathy behind crime, carries forward into his later works. In Japan, it will receive its theatrical premiere in a 2K restored version at the special screening "Michelangelo Antonioni Retrospective: The Futility of Love, Wandering Souls" in August 2026.
