「教授と美女」のリメイク。ゲイリー・クーパーの役柄を音楽学者に変えてダニー・ケイが演じている。前作の珍しい言葉がここでは珍しい音楽（ジャズ）となり、当時の大御所ミュージシャンを一堂に集めていることも魅力の映画である。リメイクにあたり、脚本が完成するまでに8人ものライターが関わったとされているが、クレジットには1人の名前も現れない。ホークスはこの企画にまったく興味がなかったが、興行は上々だった。
A remake of "Ball of Fire." Danny Kaye plays the role originally played by Gary Cooper, changed here to a musicologist. The rare words of the original become rare music (jazz) in this version, and the film's appeal is also enhanced by gathering many top musicians of the time. It is said that as many as eight writers were involved in completing the script for the remake, yet not a single name appears in the credits. Hawks had no interest in this project, but the box office performance was favorable.
