お笑いコンビ「ジャルジャル」の福徳秀介が2020年に発表した恋愛小説「今日の空が一番好き、とまだ言えない僕は」を、「勝手にふるえてろ」「私をくいとめて」の大九明子監督が映画化。 大学生の小西徹は、思い描いていたキャンパスライフとはほど遠い、冴えない毎日を送っていた。そんなある日、お団子頭の女子大生・桜田花の凛々しい姿に目を奪われた小西は、思い切って彼女に声をかける。いろいろな偶然も重なり、またたく間に意気投合する2人。会話が尽きないなか、「毎日楽しいって思いたい。今日の空が一番好きって思いたい」と桜田が何気なく口にした言葉が、小西の胸を刺す。その言葉は、小西が大好きだった、いまは亡き祖母の言葉と同じだった。桜田と出会えたことに喜ぶ小西だったが、そんな矢先にある出来事が2人を襲う。 主人公の小西徹を演じるのは、映画化もされたドラマ「美しい彼」シリーズなどで人気を集める萩原利久。ドラマ「不適切にもほどがある！」や映画「ナミビアの砂漠」などで若手実力派としてブレイクした河合優実が、ヒロインの桜田花に扮した。2024年・第37回東京国際映画祭コンペティション部門出品。
Director Akiko Oku, known for "Dating My Daughter" and "Stop Me," adapts Shusuke Fukutoku's 2020 romance novel, originally written by the comedy duo Jarujaru. College student Toru Konishi lives a dull life far from his imagined campus experience. One day, he is captivated by the dignified appearance of a bun-haired female student, Hana Sakurada, and musters the courage to speak to her. Through a series of coincidences, they quickly hit it off. Amid their endless conversations, Hana casually says, "I want to feel that every day is fun. I want to feel that today's sky is the best," a phrase that pierces Toru's heart—because it is the same words his late grandmother, whom he loved dearly, used to say. Toru rejoices at meeting Hana, but soon an incident strikes them. Toru is played by Riku Hagiwara, popular for the "Beautiful Man" series, and Hana is played by Yuumi Kawai, a rising young talent known for "Extremely Inappropriate!" and "Namibia no Sabaku." The film was selected for the competition section of the 37th Tokyo International Film Festival in 2024.
