歌舞伎の舞台公演をスクリーンでデジタル上映する「シネマ歌舞伎」シリーズ第3弾。2006年2月に歌舞伎座で上演された坂東玉三郎、尾上菊之助による名舞台「京鹿子娘二人道成寺」をデジタルシネマ化。紀伊国の道成寺では、新しい釣鐘の供養が行なわれている。恋人・安珍への激しい思いから大蛇となりはてた清姫により、安珍をかくまった道成寺の釣鐘は焼き払われてしまったのだ。そこへ美しい白拍子花子が現われ、舞を踊ることを条件に供養への参列を許される。しかし、彼女の正体は清姫の怨霊だった。
The third installment in the "Cinema Kabuki" series, which brings live Kabuki stage performances to the big screen. This film is a digital cinema adaptation of the legendary February 2006 performance of "Kyokanoko Musume Ninin Dojoji" (The Maiden at Dojoji Temple) at the Kabuki-za, starring Bando Tamasaburo and Onoe Kikunosuke. At Dojoji Temple in Kii Province, a dedication ceremony for a new temple bell is being held. The temple’s original bell was destroyed by Kiyohime, who, consumed by her intense passion for her lover Anchin, transformed into a giant serpent and incinerated the bell that had hidden him. A beautiful shirabyoshi dancer named Hanako appears and is granted permission to join the service on the condition that she performs a dance. However, her true identity is the vengeful spirit of Kiyohime.
