中国でインフルエンサーとして活躍しながら、「再会長江」などの同国の実情を捉えたドキュメンタリー作品を手がける竹内亮監督が、中国残留孤児をテーマに製作したドキュメンタリー。 1945年、第2次世界大戦末期。中国・旧満州に暮らしていた何万人もの幼い子どもたちが現地に取り残され、彼らは国籍を失い「名無しの子」となった。そして、そんな孤児たちを、貧しい暮らしの中でも自分の子どものように育てた中国の養父母たちがいた。 本作では、日本と中国を往来し、残留孤児とその家族を含む3世代・100人を取材。1990年代に帰国を果たすも日本社会に溶け込めず、自殺未遂に追い込まれた一世、日中両国で差別を受け、その抵抗手段として準暴力団「チャイニーズドラゴン」を立ち上げた二世、日中ハーフとしてのルーツを隠し、友人にすら本当の自分を打ち明けられない三世など、80年を経た今もなお、運命に翻弄され続ける中国残留孤児たちの実態を描く。
Director Ryo Takeuchi, an influencer in China known for documentaries like "The Yangtze River" that capture the nation's reality, turns his lens toward the Japanese orphans left behind in China. 1945, the end of World War II. Tens of thousands of young children living in former Manchuria were left behind, losing their nationality and becoming "nameless children." Yet, there were Chinese foster parents who, despite their own poverty, raised these orphans as their own children. Traveling between Japan and China, this documentary features interviews with 100 people across three generations, including the orphans and their families. It portrays the harsh realities of those still at the mercy of fate 80 years later: the first generation who returned to Japan in the 1990s only to be driven to suicide attempts after failing to integrate into society; the second generation who, facing discrimination in both countries, formed the quasi-gang "Chinese Dragon" as a means of resistance; and the third generation who hide their mixed roots, unable to reveal their true identities even to their closest friends.
