責任から逃げ続けてきた小説家志望の男性が、夢と現実、憧れと生活の間で自身の人生と向き合っていく姿を、切なくもユーモラスに描いたドラマ。 30代の江川厚は、アルバイトをしながら小説家を目指している。しかし最後に小説を完成させたのは随分前で、今後の人生について考えるべき時期にきていた。「世界は醜く、人間は残酷だ」とわめく江川にとって、明るく前向きな恋人・本田の存在は、心の拠りどころとなっていた。本田は江川の不器用なところを褒めてくれていたが、責任が生じる物事から逃げては世の中に文句ばかり言っている江川は、ついに愛想を尽かされてしまう。江川は本田とヨリを戻すべく、ある行動を起こすが……。 監督は、2013年に大学の卒業制作として手がけた短編映画「苔まみれの転石」で注目を集めた末廣朋樹。「苔まみれの転石」でも主演を務めた松井薫平が主人公・江川、「凪の憂鬱」などの辻凪子が江川の恋人・本田を演じ、三河悠冴、中崎敏、カトウシンスケ、篠原篤、中田クルミ、映画監督の沖田修一が共演。

Atsushi Egawa (32) works part-time jobs while aspiring to be a novelist. But it's been a long time since he last finished a piece of writing. "The world is ugly and people are cruel. I just want to be isolated from the world," Atsushi grumbles constantly, but he is supported by his bright, positive girlfriend Honda. However, fed up with Atsushi's constant fleeing from anything that involves responsibility, Honda finally loses patience and leaves him. Desperate to win Honda back, Atsushi spins an outrageous theory—"If I prove that it's not me who's wrong but society, she'll come back"—leaving everyone around him exasperated. Through encounters and clashes with all kinds of people, Atsushi gradually confronts the wounds of his heartbreak and himself.
