やなせたかし原作の国民的子ども向けアニメ「それいけ！アンパンマン」の劇場版37作目。「約束」を物語のキーワードに、新キャラクターであるレッサーパンダの旅人・パンタンが、旅の中で出会ったアンパンマン、クリームパンダら仲間たちと力を合わせ、困難に立ち向かっていく姿を描く。 昔、ある冒険家と交わした大切な約束を守るため、夜空に輝く虹の星にあるという宝物を探して旅をしていたレッサーパンダのパンタンは、旅の途中、ばいきんまんの赤ちゃんスプレーを浴び、子どもの姿になってしまう。アンパンマンたちに助けられたパンタンは、旅をする理由と、大切な約束を破ってしまったという後悔の気持ちを語るが、それを聞いたジャムおじさんに「約束は守ろうとする気持ちが大事」と勇気づけられ、気持ちを新たに再び旅に出る決意をする。そんなパンタンの旅にクリームパンダも同行し、目的地である虹の星を目指すが……。 ゲスト声優として土屋太鳳が出演しパンタン役を担当。お笑いコンビ「EXIT」のりんたろー。と兼近大樹も出演している。監督は、「それいけ！アンパンマン」テレビアニメ版の演出や劇場版も多数手がける矢野博之。脚本も同じく、テレビアニメ版や劇場版を数多く手がけてきた米村正二。
The 37th theatrical film in the beloved national children's anime "Anpanman" based on Takashi Yanase's original work. With "promise" as the story's keyword, it depicts the new character Pantan, a red panda traveler, joining forces with Anpanman, Cream Panda, and other friends he meets on his journey to face challenges. To keep a precious promise made long ago with an adventurer, the red panda Pantan travels in search of a treasure said to be on the Rainbow Star shining in the night sky. During his journey, he is sprayed with Baikinman's baby spray and turned into a child. Helped by Anpanman and his friends, Pantan tells them about his journey and his regret over breaking a precious promise. Hearing this, Uncle Jam encourages him, saying, "What matters is the will to keep a promise," and Pantan decides to set out again with renewed determination. Cream Panda joins Pantan on his journey as they head for their destination, the Rainbow Star... Guest voice actor Tao Tsuchiya plays Pantan. The comedy duo "EXIT" members Rintaro and Daiki Kanekina also appear. Directed by Hiroyuki Yano, who has worked extensively on the TV anime series and theatrical films. The screenplay is by Shoji Yonemura, also a veteran of the TV series and films.
