「ムーンライト・ダイナー」「7WAYS」などでハードボイルドな世界観を貫く神威杏次監督によるサスペンスアクション。20年前の一家惨殺事件を発端に、失われた真実を求める人々の運命が、「エリア4」と呼ばれる無法地帯で交わる様を描く。 20年前の一家惨殺事件で生き残った10歳の少女・菜摘。事件では菜摘のほか、その場にいなかったことにされた“3人目の男”だけが生存し、2人組とされた犯人たちは謎の死を遂げた。20年後、成長した菜摘のもとに送り主の分からない1枚の写真が届く。写真の裏に記されたヒントを手がかりに、菜摘は治外法権の街「エリア4」へ向かう。一方、闇組織の女・リンカは、雇った囚人たちを使い裏金を集める任務に就いていたが、組織に裏切られ命を狙われる。脱獄囚の矢吹と藤川に助けられたリンカは、奪った金を洗浄するため取引場所であるエリア4に足を踏み入れる。 主演は、「スモーキー・アンド・ビター」以降、神威監督作品の常連となっている平塚千瑛。同じく神威作品常連の中川ミコ、元「猿岩石」の森脇和成らが共演。さらに、神威監督が特撮ドラマに多数出演していた縁から、「恐竜戦隊ジュウレンジャー」の和泉史郎、「超新星フラッシュマン」の石渡康浩、「王様戦隊キングオージャー」の神里まつり、「仮面ライダークウガ」のたなかえり、スーツアクターの横山一敏、五味涼子ら特撮作品で活躍してきた面々が出演している。
A suspense-action film from director Kyoji Kamui, who continues to define a hard-boiled worldview in works like "Moonlight Diner" and "7WAYS." Triggered by a family massacre 20 years ago, the story depicts the intersecting fates of those seeking the lost truth within a lawless zone known as "Area 4." Natsumi was only ten years old when she survived the massacre two decades prior. Aside from her, the only other survivor was a "third man" whose existence was officially erased, while the two perpetrators met mysterious deaths. Twenty years later, the adult Natsumi receives a photograph from an anonymous sender. Guided by clues written on the back, she heads to the extraterritorial city of Area 4. Meanwhile, Rinka, a woman working for a dark organization, is tasked with collecting slush funds using hired convicts. However, she is betrayed by the organization and finds herself marked for death. Rescued by escaped prisoners Yabuki and Fujikawa, Rinka enters Area 4—the site of the transaction—to launder the stolen cash. The film stars Chiaki Hiratsuka, a regular in Kamui’s films since "Smoky and Bitter." She is joined by fellow regular Miko Nakagawa and Kazunari Moriwaki (formerly of the duo "Saruganseki"). Furthermore, reflecting Director Kamui’s own history of appearing in special effects (tokusatsu) dramas, the cast features a lineup of genre veterans, including Shiro Izumi (Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger), Yasuhiro Ishiwata (Choushinsei Flashman), Matsuri Kamizato (Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger), Eri Tanaka (Kamen Rider Kuuga), and suit actors Kazutoshi Yokoyama and Ryoko Gomi.
