「サッカーをしなかった最も偉大なサッカー選手」と呼ばれた、「カイザー」ことカルロス・エンリケ・ラポーゾに迫ったドキュメンタリー。 インターネットで情報が入手できるようになる前の1980～90年代、カイザーはサッカーが下手であるにもかかわらず、巧みな話術や人脈を駆使してブラジルや海外クラブと契約を結び続け、プロサッカー選手としての経歴を積み上げた。クラブ加入後は故障を装ったり、練習中にトラブルを起こしたりするなどして公式戦でプレーする状況を徹底的に回避。さらに偽の携帯電話を使用して海外クラブやエージェントからのオファーを装うなど、長年にわたり周囲を欺き続けた。2003年に26年のキャリアを終えたカイザーは、2010年から自らのストーリーを話しはじめるが、驚くべきことにそれまで監督も選手もレポーターも誰ひとりとして、彼の嘘を暴露することはなかった。 本作では、カイザー本人や当時を知るサッカー関係者らの証言をはじめ、当時の映像や写真、再現VTRを通して、カイザーが残した数々の逸話を紹介していく。監督は、イギリスのドキュメンタリー監督ルイス・マイルス。
A documentary exploring the life of Carlos Henrique Raposo, known as "Kaiser," who was dubbed "the greatest footballer who never played football." In the 1980s and 90s, before information was readily available on the internet, Kaiser, despite being a poor footballer, used his cunning conversational skills and connections to continually secure contracts with Brazilian and foreign clubs, building a career as a professional player. Once signed, he would consistently avoid playing in official matches by faking injuries or causing trouble during training. He further deceived those around him for years by using fake mobile phones to simulate offers from overseas clubs and agents. After ending his 26-year career in 2003, Kaiser began telling his story in 2010, but astonishingly, no coach, player, or reporter had ever exposed his lies. The film recounts Kaiser's many anecdotes through testimonies from Kaiser himself and football figures from that era, along with archival footage, photographs, and reenactments. The director is British documentary filmmaker Louis Myles.
