Soji Kimura's first postwar film, a cinematic adaptation of a children's play (premiered in 1954) by the Haiyuza theater company based on a Russian folk tale. The beauty of its colors, achieved through the Konica Color system, was highly praised by critics of the time. Since the surviving Konica Color print consists of only the latter half, it is screened together with a black-and-white 16mm print of nearly the original length (62 minutes).
