スウェーデンとノルウェーの国境を越えた奇跡の再会が、家族をめぐる複雑な愛憎劇へと展開していく様子をとらえたドキュメンタリー。 スウェーデンに暮らす妹カーリのもとを訪れたノルウェー人のマイは、遊園地の乗り物で事故に遭い怪我を負ってしまう。姉妹は療養中の気分転換にと、スウェーデンの小さな町グルスポングで家を探しはじめる。2人は理想の家を見つけるが、売主の女性オーウラグは、かつて自ら命を絶った姉リータにそっくりだった。やがて、オーウラグはマイとカーリの異母姉で、リータの双子の姉であることが判明する。1940年代、ナチスドイツ占領下のノルウェーでは、双子は人体実験の対象として狙われる危険があったため、オーウラグは出生時に「死亡」と偽られて別の家族に託されたのだった。奇跡の再会に喜んだのもつかの間、家族の間にはいつしか軋轢（あつれき）が生じ、封印されてきた痛ましい真実が明らかになっていく。 監督は、女性の視点から社会や人間関係を見つめる短編ドキュメンタリーを多く手がけてきたマリア・フレデリクソン。マイとカーリの姉妹から映画化を依頼されたフレデリクソン監督が長編初メガホンをとり、奇跡のような再会の記録が、「真実とは何か」という根源的な問いへと発展していく過程を映し出す。スウェーデンのアカデミー賞といわれるグルドバッゲ賞にて最優秀ドキュメンタリー賞を受賞した。

A documentary capturing how a miraculous reunion across the Swedish-Norwegian border unfolds into a complex drama of love and hatred surrounding a family. May, a Norwegian woman visiting her sister Carin, who lives in Sweden, is injured in an accident on an amusement park ride. To lift their spirits during her recovery, the sisters begin looking for a house in the small Swedish town of Gurspong. They find their ideal home, but the seller, a woman named Aurlag, bears a striking resemblance to their sister Rita, who had taken her own life. Eventually, it is revealed that Aurlag is May and Carin's half-sister and Rita's twin. In the 1940s, under Nazi German occupation in Norway, twins were in danger of being targeted for human experimentation, so Aurlag's birth was falsely registered as "stillborn" and she was entrusted to another family. The joy of the miraculous reunion is short-lived, as friction begins to arise within the family, and painful sealed-away truths come to light. The director is Maria Fredriksson, who has helmed many short documentaries examining society and human relationships from a female perspective. Commissioned to make the film by the sisters May and Carin, director Fredriksson takes the helm of her first feature, tracing how the record of a miraculous reunion develops into a fundamental inquiry into "what is truth?" The film won the Best Documentary Award at the Guldbagge Awards, Sweden's equivalent of the Academy Awards.
