1990年代初頭のペルーを舞台に、疎遠だった父と思春期の娘たちが一緒に過ごす最後の夏を、切なくもユーモラスにつづったドラマ。 アルベルト・フジモリ政権下のペルーの首都リマ。国内情勢が不安定ななか、母エレナは娘のアウロラとルシアを連れ、安定した仕事のあるアメリカ・ミネソタへの移住を決意する。出発は3週間後の予定だったが、娘たちが出国するには父親である元夫カルロスの渡航同意書へのサインが必要だった。カルロスはタクシー運転手として働いているが、乗客には本業は役者だと語り、友人たちには輸入業をしていると出まかせばかり。久々に再会した娘たちにも、ジャングルでワニに噛まれたと話したり、実はスパイだとうそぶいたりする。父娘3人はアウロラの希望で夏の海辺へ出かけ、限られた時間を過ごす。数日後、母と言い争いになったアウロラはルシアと一緒に、夜間外出禁止令が発令されている市街地へ父を探しに向かう。 自身も10歳でペルーを離れ国外へ移住した経験を持つクラウディア・レイニケ監督が、自らのルーツと向き合いながら撮りあげた。2024年・第74回ベルリン国際映画祭にて、子どもや若者向けの作品を対象とするジェネレーションKPlus部門の最優秀作品賞を受賞。
Set in Peru in the early 1990s, a bittersweet yet humorous drama about a last summer spent together by an estranged father and his teenage daughters. In Lima, the capital of Peru under the Alberto Fujimori administration, with the domestic situation unstable, mother Elena decides to move with her daughters Aurora and Lucia to Minnesota in the United States, where she has stable work. Their departure is scheduled for three weeks later, but for the daughters to leave the country, they need the signature of their father, former husband Carlos, on a travel consent form. Carlos works as a taxi driver, but tells passengers his real profession is acting, and spins fabrications to friends about being in the import business. To his daughters, whom he meets again after a long time, he claims he was bitten by a crocodile in the jungle or boasts that he is actually a spy. At Aurora's request, the three father and daughters head to the seaside for the summer and spend their limited time together. A few days later, after arguing with her mother, Aurora goes with Lucia to search for her father in the city center, where a curfew has been imposed. Director Claudia Reynike, who herself left Peru at age 10 to live abroad, made this film while confronting her own roots. It won the Grand Prize in the Generation KPlus section, which targets works for children and young people, at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival in 2024.
