Produced as an educational film to deepen public understanding and cooperation, recognizing that measures were still needed even after the Anti-Prostitution Act took effect in 1957. A young miner named Minoru (Soda) and Takako (Ozawa), who came to Tokyo but fell into street prostitution, attempt suicide in a room in a flophouse district and are saved at the last moment. Eventually, with the help of a women's counselor named Minegishi (Hiramatsu) and a welfare commissioner, Takako takes one step at a time toward a new life.
