A documentary series broadcast on Nippon Television in 1961. Kimura served as supervisor. When he returned from China in 1953, Kimura wrote that 'a China for the people is rising up vigorously' (Kinema Junpo, late April 1953 issue), and in later years spoke of his state of mind at the time: 'I thought I needed to go back to talk about what China is really like now, what it's truly like' (Koza Nihon Eiga 2, Iwanami Shoten). At the time of filming, China was suffering from famine caused by the Great Leap Forward policy, but the completed work propagates that 'a China for the people' had indeed been realized through agricultural collectivization and industrialization.
