沖縄発のバンド「やちむん刺激茄子」のリーダー・奈須重樹を追ったドキュメンタリー。 1964年宮崎県で生まれ、大学進学を機に82年より沖縄に暮らす奈須重樹は、大学卒業後に写真家として活動しながら91年「やちむん」を結成して音楽活動をスタートさせる。「やちむん」はトリオ、デュオ、そして現在は奈須のソロユニットとして変遷し、2013年からは「やちむん刺激茄子」名義でバンドとしても活動している。これまでに12枚のアルバムをリリースし、94年に発表した楽曲「がんばれ いぼやーるー」が沖縄県内にて小ヒットを記録したが、ヒット作と呼べるのはその一曲のみ。奈須は那覇で流しを中心に日銭を稼ぎながら、精力的に活動を続けている。 そんないまいち“売れない男”の奈須が2016年、バンド結成25周年を記念して沖縄最古の映画館「首里劇場」を舞台にライブを敢行。天衣無縫なパフォーマンスで聴衆を魅了し、一夜限りの脚光を浴びた。18人編成のビッグバンドで挑んだ同ライブの迫力の映像を中心に、奈須のインタビューを通して彼がつむぐ楽曲の魅力を伝える。監督は「パイナップル・ツアーズ」などを手がけた當間早志。
A documentary following Nasa Shigeki, the leader of the Okinawan band "Yachimun Shigeki Nasu." Born in Miyazaki Prefecture in 1964, Nasa moved to Okinawa in 1982 to attend university, and after graduating, he worked as a photographer while forming "Yachimun" in 1991 to start his music career. The group evolved from a trio to a duo, and is now Nasa's solo unit; since 2013, he has also performed as a band under the name "Yachimun Shigeki Nasu." He has released 12 albums to date, and while his 1994 song "Ganbare Iboyaru" was a minor hit within Okinawa Prefecture, it remains his only notable success. Nasa continues his energetic activities while earning a living primarily as a street performer in Naha. In 2016, to commemorate the band's 25th anniversary, this perpetually "unsuccessful" man held a live performance at Okinawa's oldest movie theater, "Shuri Gekijo." With his free-spirited performance, he captivated the audience and basked in a single night of spotlight. The film centers on powerful footage from that concert, performed with an 18-piece big band, and conveys the appeal of Nasa's music through interviews with him. Directed by Tōma Hayashi, known for "Pineapple Tours" and other works.
