2019年1月に96歳で他界したアメリカ前衛芸術の父ジョナス・メカスを、盟友であった日本の詩人・吉増剛造が悼む姿を追ったドキュメンタリー。 リトアニア出身のメカスは1949年にニューヨークへ渡り、映像作家として自身の作品を発表する傍ら、マスコミや政治から作品を非難され窮地に陥ったアーティストたちに救いの手を差し伸べ、アメリカの前衛芸術を牽引する存在となった。日本における現代詩の先駆者で、1985年よりメカスと交流のあった吉増が、2020年1月にニューヨークを訪れ、マンハッタンとブルックリンにメカスの面影を追いながら追悼詩をつづっていく。 監督は、東日本大震災後に言葉を失った吉増が復活するまでを捉えたドキュメンタリー「幻を見るひと」の井上春生。詩人としても高く評価されるシンガーソングライターの佐野元春がテーマ音楽を手がけた。

January 2020, just before the coronavirus envelops New York. Poet Gozo Yoshimasu traces the traces of his ally Jonas Mekas (1922–2019), the father of avant-garde cinema, in Manhattan and Brooklyn on the first anniversary of his death, a friendship that had continued since 1985. Wartime study notes left in the studio, a 1945 passport, personal effects arranged by his son Sebastian. In a corner of the bedroom, Yoshimasu becomes dizzy and collapses. Early in the morning of January 23rd, the anniversary of his death, a memorial poem is completed in an instant. Crossing the bridge to the office. Yoshimasu reads it aloud to the waiting Sebastian. Then, a long silence falls.
