Finnish master Aki Kaurismäki returns to the director's chair after five years with this love story about a man and a woman living with loneliness who seek to find an irreplaceable partner. This is the fourth installment following Kaurismäki's worker trilogy—"Shadows in Paradise," "Ariel," and "The Match Factory Girl"—and it straightforwardly depicts the daily lives of workers who, even in harsh circumstances, do not lose their joy in living or their pride. In Helsinki, Finland. Ansa, who lost her job for unjust reasons, and Holappa, who works at a construction site while drowning in alcohol, meet at a karaoke bar and are drawn to each other without even knowing each other's names. However, unfortunate coincidences and harsh reality keep pulling them away from their modest happiness. Alma Pöysti (of "Tove") plays Ansa, and Jussi Vatanen (of "Unknown Soldier") plays Holappa, with Janne Hyytiäinen (of "Lights in the Dusk") and Nuppu Koivu (of "The Other Side of Hope") in supporting roles. It won the Jury Prize at the 76th Cannes Film Festival in 2023.
