An anime film adaptation of Shinichi Ishizuka's popular jazz manga "BLUE GIANT," which began serialization in Shogakukan's "Big Comic" in 2013. Miyamoto Dai, a high school student living in Sendai, is captivated by jazz and spends every day alone by the river playing the tenor saxophone. Upon graduating, he moves to Tokyo and crashes at the apartment of his high school classmate Tamada Shunji. One day, at a live house, Dai meets Sawabe Yuki, a brilliant pianist of the same generation, and invites him to join a band. Inspired by Dai, Tamada takes up drums, and the three form the band "JASS." Dai, who can't read sheet music and simply blows with all his might, Yuki, who has devoted his entire life to jazz since childhood, and Tamada, a complete beginner, desperately continue their activities with the goal of performing at Japan's top jazz club and changing the Japanese jazz scene. Popular actor Yuki Yamada voices the protagonist Miyamoto Dai, with Shotaro Mamiya as Sawabe Yuki and Aon Okayama as Tamada Shunji. Directed by Yuzuru Tachikawa ("Detective Conan: Zero the Enforcer"), with the screenplay by NUMBER 8, who also served as story director and was the original work's editor, and animation production by NUT (known for the "Saga of Tanya the Evil" series). World-renowned pianist Hiromi Uehara composed the music and performed the in-film pieces.
