Mid-August Commotion
On August 6, 1945, the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, and Japan's defeat became all but certain. The Prime Minister's secretary, Nakajima, sounds out senior statesmen about accepting the Potsdam Declaration. But this peace faction's moves provoke the resistance-minded military officers. Unable to persuade the army and out of options, the Prime Minister petitions for an Imperial Conference to be held.
