2011年1月〜4月に放送され大きな話題を集めたテレビアニメ「魔法少女まどか☆マギカ」の劇場版第4作。2013年公開の「劇場版　魔法少女まどか☆マギカ　新編　叛逆の物語」の続編で、鹿目まどかへの想いゆえに自ら「悪魔」と化した暁美ほむらが作り出した世界を舞台に物語が展開する。 見滝原市の女の子たちの間では、この世の呪いと戦うことと引き換えに「トカゲさん電話」が願いをかなえてくれるという噂話がささやかれていた。その頃、ソウルジェムを持たない少女が魔獣狩りを行うという異常事態が続発する。その状況を悠然と眺める暁美ほむらは、この世界に君臨する悪魔としてすべてをほしいままにしているはずだったが、そんな歪んだ日常を終わらせる存在が突如として現れる。すべての魔女の始まりの場所である「名塚底根（なづかそこつね）」、かつてほむらを苦しめた複数の魔女の集合体「ワルプルギスの夜」、そして「円環の理」を求める2人の魔法少女。円環の理を失った世界で、魔法少女たちの運命は再び廻りはじめる。 キャスト・スタッフにはこれまでのメンバーが再結集し、総監督を新房昭之、脚本を虚淵玄、キャラクター原案を蒼樹うめ、アニメーション制作をシャフトが担当。

The fourth theatrical film in the TV anime "Puella Magi Madoka Magica," which aired from January to April 2011 and became a major sensation. A sequel to the 2013 film "Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie: Rebellion," the story unfolds in a world created by Akemi Homura, who became a "demon" out of her feelings for Kaname Madoka. Among the girls of Mitakihara City, a rumor circulates that the "Lizard-san Telephone" will grant wishes in exchange for fighting the curses of this world. Meanwhile, abnormal incidents continue where girls without Soul Gems hunt magical beasts. Calmly observing this situation, Akemi Homura, as the demon reigning over this world, should have everything at her whim—but something suddenly appears to end this distorted daily life. "Nazuka Sokotsune," the place where all witches began; "Walpurgisnacht," the aggregate of multiple witches that once tormented Homura; and two magical girls seeking the "Law of Cycles." In a world that has lost the Law of Cycles, the fate of magical girls begins to turn once more. The cast and staff from previous installments reunite, with Shinbo Akiyuki as chief director, Urobuchi Gen on script, Aoki Ume on original character design, and animation production by SHAFT.
