「ほしのこえ」「雲のむこう、約束の場所」など繊細な心理描写と緻密な映像美で知られるアニメーション作家・新海誠が、「秒速5センチメートル」以来5年ぶりに手がけたオリジナル長編作。少女アスナが父の形見の鉱石ラジオで聞いた不思議な音楽をきっかけに、大冒険へと旅立つ姿を描くジュブナイルアニメ。美術監督の丹治匠、音楽の天門ら新海作品を支えるおなじみのスタッフが集う。

Makoto Shinkai, the animation artist known for delicate psychological portrayals and meticulous visual beauty in works like 'Voices of a Distant Star' and 'The Place Promised in Our Early Days,' returns with his first original feature in five years since '5 Centimeters per Second.' This juvenile animation follows a girl named Asuna who, triggered by mysterious music heard through a mineral radio left by her father, embarks on a grand adventure. The familiar staff supporting Shinkai's works, including art director Takumi Tanji and composer Tenmon, come together for this film.
