「センチメンタル・バリュー」などで知られるヨアキム・トリアー監督が、2011年に発表した長編第2作。ルイ・マルの「鬼火」の原作としても知られるピエール・ドリュー・ラ・ロシェルの小説「ゆらめく炎」を大胆に翻案し、現代のオスロを舞台にドラッグに溺れる青年の痛みと絶望を繊細に描く。 郊外の施設で麻薬中毒の治療プログラムを続けるアンデシュは、自殺願望にとりつかれていた。リハビリも終わりに近づき、外泊許可を得た彼は故郷のオスロへ向かい、友人たちと久々に再会する。しかし、会話は弾まず、就職面接を受けるが、それもうまくいかない。やがて、あるパーティに足を運んだ彼は場に溶け込めず、長い間断っていた酒を口にし、さらにドラッグにまで手を出してしまう。 ヨアキム・トリアー監督が2006年に発表した長編デビュー作「リプライズ」と、2021年の「わたしは、最悪。」とあわせて「オスロ三部作」と呼ばれる作品群の第2作。主人公アンデシュ役を、「リプライズ」でも主演を務めたアンデルシュ・ダニエルセン・リーが演じた。2011年・第64回カンヌ国際映画祭「ある視点」部門出品。日本では特集上映「ヨアキム・トリアー　オスロ三部作」（2026年2月13日～、東京・Bunkamuraル・シネマ渋谷宮下ほか）で劇場初公開。

The second feature film by director Joachim Trier (known for "The Worst Person in the World"), released in 2011. A bold adaptation of Pierre Drieu La Rochelle's novel "Le Feu Follet" (also the basis for Louis Malle's film "The Fire Within"), it sensitively portrays the pain and despair of a young man addicted to drugs, set in modern-day Oslo. Anders, undergoing a drug addiction treatment program at a facility in the suburbs, is plagued by suicidal thoughts. As his rehabilitation nears its end, he receives a leave pass and returns to his hometown of Oslo to reunite with friends. However, conversations are strained, and a job interview goes poorly. Eventually, he goes to a party but fails to fit in, and after a long period of abstinence, he starts drinking alcohol and then turns to drugs. This is the second film in what is called the "Oslo Trilogy," which includes Trier's 2006 debut "Reprise" and his 2021 film "The Worst Person in the World." Anders Danielsen Lie, who also starred in "Reprise," plays the protagonist Anders. The film was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 64th Cannes Film Festival in 2011. It received its first Japanese theatrical release as part of the special program "Joachim Trier: The Oslo Trilogy" (from February 13, 2026, at Bunkamura Le Cinéma Shibuya Miyashita in Tokyo and other venues).
