取材許可に6年をかけ、2年にわたり日本国内の刑務所に初めてカメラを入れて完成となったドキュメンタリー。官民協働による新しい刑務所であり、受刑者同士の対話をベースに犯罪の原因を探り、更生を促す「TC（Therapeutic Community＝回復共同体）」というプログラムを導入している日本で唯一の刑務所でもある「島根あさひ社会復帰促進センター」。受刑者たちはプログラムを通じて、窃盗や詐欺、強盗傷人、傷害致死など、自身が犯してしまった罪はもちろんのこと、貧困、いじめ、虐待、差別といった幼い頃に経験した苦い記憶とも向き合わなければならない。カメラは服役中の4人の若者を追い、彼らがTCを通じて新たな価値観や生き方を身につけていく姿が描かれる。監督は「Lifers ライファーズ 終身刑を超えて」「トークバック　沈黙を破る女たち」などアメリカの受刑者をテーマにした作品を手がけてきた坂上香。

This documentary was completed after six years of negotiating for filming permission and two years of unprecedented access inside a Japanese prison. The film focuses on the Shimane Asahi Rehabilitation Program Center, a modern public-private partnership facility and the only prison in Japan to implement the "TC (Therapeutic Community)" program—a system that encourages rehabilitation by exploring the root causes of crime through dialogue between inmates. Through this program, the inmates must confront not only their crimes—including theft, fraud, robbery causing injury, and manslaughter—but also the painful memories of their youth, such as poverty, bullying, abuse, and discrimination. The camera follows four young men as they serve their sentences, depicting their journey toward adopting new values and a different way of life through the TC. The film is directed by Kaori Sakagami, who has previously explored the lives of American inmates in works such as "Lifers" and "Talk Back Out Loud."
