The Tale of the White Serpent
The white snake spirit Bai Niang, unable to forget Xu Xian who cared for her when she was young, appears before him as a beautiful woman. The fish spirit Shao Qing acts as their go-between. The two quickly fall in love. However, this soon comes to the attention of the monk Fa Hai, who, concerned for the life of the young man bewitched by a demon, decides to use his magical powers to obstruct their love. Yet their romance seems to be progressing smoothly, as they spend dreamlike moments strolling through the garden of a beautiful mansion in full bloom. Xu Xian's close friends, the panda and Mimi, also playfully roam the mansion with Shao Qing, eventually pulling down a decorative dragon from a pillar. The dragon moves on its own, capturing the panda, Mimi, and Shao Qing, flying through the night sky and dropping them into a treasure hall. Shao Qing gives the jewels she finds there to Xu Xian and Bai Niang, but this becomes the cause of their separation.
