フランスの鬼才レオス・カラックスが1986年に手がけた長編第2作。監督デビュー作「ボーイ・ミーツ・ガール」に始まるアレックス3部作の第2作で、結ばれない男女の三角関係を独自の映像センスと鮮烈な色彩でスピーディに描き、弱冠25歳にして映画作家としてのカラックスの評価を決定づけた一作。 愛のないセックスにより感染する奇妙な病気「STBO」が蔓延した近未来のパリ。空虚な日々を過ごす青年アレックスは父が不可解な死を遂げた後、父の友人であるギャングの男マルクから犯罪に誘われる。マルクを手伝うことにしたアレックスは、彼の愛人であるアンナにひかれていくが……。 「ボーイ・ミーツ・ガール」に続いてドニ・ラバンが主人公アレックスを演じ、名優ミシェル・ピコリが父の友人マルク、キャリア初期のジュリエット・ビノシュがマルクの愛人アンナを演じた。後にアメリカで「グッド・ウィル・ハンティング　旅立ち」などを手がけるジャン＝イブ・エスコフィエが「ボーイ・ミーツ・ガール」に引き続き撮影を担当。1986年度ルイ・デリュック賞、第37回ベルリン国際映画祭アルフレッド・バウアー賞を受賞。2026年1月、4Kレストア版にてリバイバル公開。

In a Paris plagued by STBO—a mysterious disease contracted through loveless sex—Alex is a young man who has lived with a sense of nihilism and isolation since childhood. Even in the company of his lover, Lise, the emptiness remains. Stricken by unexplained abdominal pains and weary of his existence, he is consumed by the need to change his life. It is then that his estranged father is killed by a train. Marc, an old friend of his father, finds himself saddled with the dead man's massive debts and devises a plan to steal and traffic the STBO serum. He seeks out Alex as the essential recruit for the job. Alex joins the heist, but when he meets Marc’s lover, Anna, he feels a profound sense of destiny, and the story begins to unfold.
