A crime suspense that depicts the outcome of a criminal plan by five ex-convicts through a clever story development. At a California pier, a drug smuggling ship explodes, killing 27 people and causing $91 million in cash to disappear. Customs special agent Kujan interrogates Kint, the sole survivor who escaped unscathed. Six weeks earlier, five 'usual suspects' arrested by New York police for a gun heist are released and later conspire to attack a corrupt cop and steal jewels. To sell the loot, they head to California, where a dealer offers them a new job... At the 68th Academy Awards, Kevin Spacey won Best Supporting Actor and Christopher McQuarrie won Best Original Screenplay. Director Bryan Singer was highly praised for this film, which became his breakthrough, leading to his selection as director of 'X-Men'.
