Easy Rider
A quintessential work of American New Cinema, depicting two hippies who hide a large sum of money from marijuana sales in a gas tank and set off on a motorcycle road trip in search of the true America. Originally conceived as a modern Western with horses replaced by motorcycles, what it ultimately portrays is drug culture, intense xenophobia, and the hollow promise of "freedom" in contemporary America.
