An immortal masterpiece of sci-fi human drama directed by Steven Spielberg, depicting the bond between an alien left behind on Earth and a group of children. A spaceship arrives in an American forest to study the planet's plant life. When human searchers close in, the ship flees, but in the chaos, one alien is left behind. Ten-year-old Elliot, who lives near the woods, encounters the alien and hides him in his home. Drawing in his older brother and younger sister, Elliot deepens his connection with the alien they name E.T., but... Henry Thomas, active as a child actor, plays the lead role of Elliot, and Drew Barrymore, also a child actor at the time, plays his sister Gertie. The special effects and E.T.'s design were handled by Carlo Rambaldi, who previously teamed with Spielberg on 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind,' earning the film an Academy Award for Visual Effects. The score by John Williams, who also composed for 'Jaws' and 'Star Wars,' accompanies iconic scenes like the bicycle soaring through the night sky, along with countless famous lines and moments. In January 2025, the film received its first IMAX screening as part of the 'Steven Spielberg IMAX Film Festival.'
