フィンランドのアキ・カウリスマキ監督が贈る、クレイジーなロードムービー。全員の名前がフランクという15人の男たち。カラマリ・ユニオン（イカ墨同名）のメンバーである彼らは、退屈な街を捨て、街の反対側にあるという理想郷エイラを目指して旅立つ。不思議な男たちの旅を、ロックテイストをちりばめて皮肉たっぷりに描いたこの作品は、カウリスマキ監督の代表作「レニングラード・カウボーイズ」シリーズの原点ともいえる。

A suspicious gathering of men begins at a certain diner. Almost all of the men wearing sunglasses are named Frank. As members of the Squid Ink Alliance—the <Calamari Union>—they decide to give up on a city of poverty and despair and set out on a journey toward the ideal land, <Eira>. This work, which depicts the journey of these strange men with a rock-flavored, thoroughly cynical touch, can be called the origin point of director Kaurismäki's representative 'Leningrad Cowboys' series.
