日本でも大きな話題を集め、ロングランヒットとなった「バーフバリ」シリーズのS・S・ラージャマウリ監督が、英国植民地時代の激動のインドを舞台に、2人の男の友情と使命がぶつかり合う様を豪快に描くアクションエンタテインメント。 1920年、英国植民地時代のインド。英国軍にさらわれた幼い少女を救うため立ち上がったビームと、大義のため英国政府の警察となったラーマ。それぞれに熱い思いを胸に秘めた2人は敵対する立場にあったが、互いの素性を知らずに、運命に導かれるように出会い、無二の親友となる。しかし、ある事件をきっかけに、2人は友情か使命かの選択を迫られることになる。 「バードシャー　テルグの皇帝」のN・T・ラーマ・ラオ・Jr.がビーム、ラージャマウリ監督の「マガディーラ　勇者転生」にも主演したラーム・チャランがラーマを演じた。タイトルの「RRR」（読み：アール・アール・アール）は、「Rise（蜂起）」「Roar（咆哮）」「Revolt（反乱）」の頭文字に由来する。日本で公開されたインド映画で史上初めて興行収入10億円を超えるヒットを記録。劇中の楽曲「ナートゥ・ナートゥ（Naatu Naatu）」も話題となり、第95回アカデミー賞でインド映画史上初となる歌曲賞受賞を果たした。

From S.S. Rajamouli, director of the "Baahubali" series, which was a huge hit and had a long theatrical run in Japan, comes this spectacular action entertainment set in the turbulent era of British colonial India, depicting the clash of friendship and duty between two men. In 1920, during British rule in India, Bheem rises to save a young girl kidnapped by the British army, while Rama becomes a police officer for the British government for a greater cause. Though they are on opposing sides, driven by their own passionate beliefs, fate brings them together without knowing each other's true identities, and they become inseparable friends. However, an incident forces them to choose between friendship and their missions. N.T. Rama Rao Jr., known for "Baadshah," plays Bheem, and Ram Charan, who starred in Rajamouli's "Magadheera," plays Rama. The title "RRR" is derived from the initials of "Rise," "Roar," and "Revolt." It became the first Indian film to gross over 1 billion yen at the Japanese box office. The song "Naatu Naatu" also became a sensation, winning the Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 95th Academy Awards, a first for an Indian film.
