"Unforgettable masterpieces" return to the screen! Since his directorial debut with "A Touch of Fever" (1993), Ryosuke Hashiguchi—known as a "master of few works" eagerly awaited by film fans both in Japan and abroad—has delivered acclaimed films including "Like Grains of Sand" (1995), which won the Grand Prix at the 25th Rotterdam International Film Festival; "Three Stories of Love" (2015), which swept various film awards including the Kinema Junpo Best Ten Japanese Films No. 1; and his latest work "Motherhood" (2024), released nine years after "Three Stories of Love." "Hush!" depicts a gay couple and a woman—three people who had given up on connecting with others—forming a "new kind of family." "All Around Us" portrays the hope that arises between people through ten years in the life of a married couple. Both films are often cited as "all-time best films" and are known as "unforgettable masterpieces." Now, these two works will be revived in 4K remastered versions! "All Around Us" returns 18 years after its June 2008 release, while "Hush!" returns 25 years after its production in 2001 (released April 2002)—a full quarter-century later. "All Around Us" follows a wife who falls into depression due to her overly serious nature and her husband, a courtroom sketch artist who supports her, tracing their inseparable bond over ten years against the backdrop of various shocking events from the 1990s. The film was screened in the Panorama section of the 2009 Berlin International Film Festival.
