11歳の少年少女の初恋の行方を描き、日本では「ビー・ジーズ」によるテーマ曲「メロディ・フェア」と併せて大ヒットを記録した青春ラブストーリー。ロンドンのパブリックスクールに通う引っ込み思案な少年ダニエルは、やんちゃな同級生トムと大の仲良しで、いつも一緒に遊んでいた。ある日の放課後、女子生徒のバレエの練習をのぞき見したダニエルは、メロディという少女に心を奪われる。2人はひかれ合い、やがて結婚の約束をするが……。後に「ミッドナイト・エクスプレス」「ミシシッピー・バーニング」などの監督を手がけるアラン・パーカーが脚本を担当。2019年6月、デジタルリマスター版でリバイバル上映。

A coming-of-age love story about the first love of an 11-year-old boy and girl, which became a huge hit in Japan along with the theme song 'Melody Fair' by the Bee Gees. Daniel, a shy boy attending a London public school, is best friends with his rambunctious classmate Tom, and they always play together. One day after school, while peeking at the girls' ballet practice, Daniel's heart is captured by a girl named Melody. They are drawn to each other and eventually promise to get married... The screenplay was written by Alan Parker, who later directed films such as 'Midnight Express' and 'Mississippi Burning.' A digital remastered version was re-released in June 2019.
