「男と女」「暗殺の森」などで知られるフランスの名優ジャン＝ルイ・トランティニャンが主演を務めた、フランス、イタリア、アメリカ合作によるクライムサスペンス。 ロサンゼルス国際空港に降り立ったフランス人の殺し屋ルシアン。ビバリーヒルズのホテルにチェックインし、拳銃を懐にしのばせたルシアンは、車でターゲットである組織の大ボスが住む高級住宅街へと向かう。ターゲットを手際良く始末したルシアンがホテルに戻ると、ホテルは何者かによってチェックアウトされ、パスポートと航空券が消えていた。疑心暗鬼に陥るルシアンに、突如、正体不明の殺し屋が放つ銃弾の雨が降り注ぐ。 ルシアン役のトランティニャンのほか、「愛の狩人」のアン＝マーグレット、「フレンチ・コネクション」のロイ・シャイダーをはじめとする仏・伊・米の個性派俳優たちが共演。監督は「ボルサリーノ」2部作や「フリックストーリー」などで知られるジャック・ドレー。脚本を「存在の耐えられない軽さ」「ブルジョワジーの秘かな愉しみ」など数々の名作を手がけたジャン＝クロード・カリエールが担当。1972年の製作から半世紀以上を経て、2026年に4Kリマスター版で日本初公開。

A crime suspense film co-produced by France, Italy, and the United States, starring the renowned French actor Jean-Louis Trintignant, known for "A Man and a Woman" and "The Conformist." Lucien, a French hitman, arrives at Los Angeles International Airport. Checking into a Beverly Hills hotel and concealing a pistol, Lucien drives to the upscale residential area where his target, a crime boss, lives. After efficiently eliminating the target, Lucien returns to the hotel only to find that someone has checked him out and his passport and plane ticket are gone. As Lucien becomes paranoid, a hail of bullets suddenly rains down on him from an unknown assassin. Alongside Trintignant as Lucien, the film features a cast of distinctive French, Italian, and American actors including Ann-Margret from "The Hunter" and Roy Scheider from "The French Connection." Directed by Jacques Deray, known for the two "Borsalino" films and "Flic Story." The screenplay is by Jean-Claude Carrière, who worked on numerous masterpieces such as "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" and "The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie." After more than half a century since its production in 1972, it receives its first Japanese release in 2026 in a 4K remastered version.
