The Resurrection of the Golden Wolf
Legendary popular actor Yusaku Matsuda stars as a lone wolf with two faces—a salaryman and an outlaw—in this hit Kadokawa action film based on the novel of the same name by Haruhiko Oyabu, which was a huge success upon its release. Following his explosive popularity in the pioneering TV drama 'Taiyo ni Hoero!', Matsuda teams up again with director Tohru Murakawa and cinematographer Seizo Sengen—who also worked with him on the 'Game' film series and the drama 'Daitokai PARTII'—to break new ground in domestic hard-action cinema. A must-see film, Matsuda enhanced his wild charisma by experiencing live-fire shooting abroad for his role. Murakawa's signature long-take cinematography brings unique intensity to the gunfight scenes, and the final line is said to be an ad-lib by Matsuda himself, not in the script. Tetsuya Asakura appears to be an ordinary salaryman by day, but by night he trains his body and plots to take over a massive corporation. One day, he uses drugs he obtained to seduce his boss's mistress, Kyoko Nagai. Soon after, he discovers that a man named Sakurai is blackmailing company executives over an embezzlement scandal. Asakura skillfully manipulates Sakurai and the company to successfully become engaged to the president's daughter, Eriko. Meanwhile, burning with jealousy, Kyoko makes a fateful decision.
