1967年に開催された「モンタレー国際ポップフェスティバル」を記録した音楽ドキュメンタリー。 ヒッピームーブメントの真っただ中にあった1967年6月、ロックンロールの新時代を先導することになる「モンタレー国際ポップフェスティバル」がカリフォルニア州モンタレーで開催された。同フェスをきっかけに世界へと躍り出たジミ・ヘンドリックス、ジャニス・ジョプリン、オーティス・レディングをはじめ、ジェファーソン・エアプレイン、サイモン＆ガーファンクル、ママス＆パパス、ザ・フーら多数のアーティストが出演し、大規模なロックフェスティバルの先駆けとなった。 「ドント・ルック・バック」「ジギー・スターダスト」など数々の音楽系ドキュメンタリー作品で知られるD・A・ペネベイカーが手がけ、ギターを破壊するピート・タウンゼント、ギターを燃やすジミ・ヘンドリックス、ジャニス・ジョプリンのパフォーマンスに圧倒されるキャス・エリオットなど、伝説の瞬間の数々を捉えた。

A music documentary recording the 'Monterey International Pop Festival' held in 1967. In June 1967, in the midst of the hippie movement, the 'Monterey International Pop Festival,' which would usher in a new era of rock and roll, was held in Monterey, California. The festival launched the careers of Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Otis Redding, and featured numerous artists including Jefferson Airplane, Simon & Garfunkel, The Mamas & the Papas, and The Who, serving as a pioneer of large-scale rock festivals. Directed by D. A. Pennebaker, known for numerous music documentaries such as 'Don't Look Back' and 'Ziggy Stardust,' the film captures legendary moments including Pete Townshend smashing his guitar, Jimi Hendrix burning his guitar, and Cass Elliot being overwhelmed by Janis Joplin's performance.
