商標登録された犬のパロディやフロイトによる犬の精神分析など、コメディ要素が散りばめられたミュージカル映画。アメリカ人の蓄音機セールスマンがウィーンにやってくる。珍しい蓄音機を爆弾と間違えられたり、貴族の娘に 一目惚れしたりと飼い犬を巻き込んで一騒動起きる。伸びやかに歌い上げる、ビング・クロスビーの歌声は聴きごたえ十分。しかし、後に「ミュージカルを作る才能がない」と語ったとおりビリー・ワイルダーにとって唯一の音楽劇となった。

A musical film sprinkled with comedic elements, including a parody of trademarked dogs and Freudian psychoanalysis of a dog. An American phonograph salesman arrives in Vienna. His rare phonograph is mistaken for a bomb, and he falls in love at first sight with an aristocrat's daughter, dragging his pet dog into a series of mishaps. Bing Crosby's expansive singing voice is a delight to hear. However, this became Billy Wilder's only musical film, as he later said he lacked the talent to make musicals.
