「トロピカル・マラティ」で国際的に高く評価されたタイのアピチャッポン・ウィーラセタクン監督が、カンヌ映画祭でタイ映画に初のパルムドールをもたらしたファンタジー・ドラマ。タイの山間で暮らす余命わずかなブンミは、自分の農園に妻の妹ジェンを呼び寄せる。すると、19年前にこの世を去ったブンミの妻の霊が現れ、さらに行方不明の息子も姿を変えて現われる。やがて、ブンミは彼らとともに深い森へ入っていく。

A fantasy drama by Thai director Apichatpong Weerasethakul, internationally acclaimed for "Tropical Malady," which brought Thailand its first Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. Boonmee, who is nearing the end of his life in the mountains of Thailand, invites his wife's younger sister Jen to his farm. There, the ghost of Boonmee's wife, who passed away nineteen years earlier, appears, and his missing son also shows up in a transformed state. Eventually, Boonmee ventures with them into the deep forest.
