Five hundred years after the violent Son Goku was imprisoned under Five Elements Mountain, he is freed from his seal by the monk Sanzo, who is heading to India, and joins the journey as Sanzo's bodyguard. Along the way, the group gains new companions, but they are confronted by the demoness Hakukotsu-fujin, who seeks to kill Sanzo in order to maintain her own eternal beauty. Using various schemes, Hakukotsu-fujin finally captures Sanzo.
