人生のすべてをテレビのリアリティショーで生中継されていた男を描いたコメディドラマ。離島の町シーヘブンで生まれ育った男トゥルーマン。保険会社で働きながら、しっかり者の妻メリルと平穏な毎日を送る彼には、本人だけが知らない驚きの事実があった。実はトゥルーマンは生まれた時から毎日24時間すべてをテレビ番組「トゥルーマン・ショー」で生中継されており、彼が暮らす町は巨大なセット、住人も妻や親友に至るまで全員が俳優なのだ。自分が生きる世界に違和感を抱き始めた彼は、真実を突き止めようと奔走するが……。主人公トゥルーマンをジム・キャリー、番組プロデューサーをエド・ハリスが演じ、第56回ゴールデングローブ賞で主演男優賞と助演男優賞をそれぞれ受賞。「刑事ジョン・ブック　目撃者」のピーター・ウィアーが監督を務め、「ガタカ」のアンドリュー・ニコルが脚本を手がけた。

A comedy-drama depicting a man whose entire life is broadcast live on a reality TV show. Truman, a man born and raised on the isolated island town of Seahaven, works at an insurance company and lives a peaceful daily life with his dependable wife Meryl. However, there is a shocking fact that only he doesn't know. In reality, since his birth, every moment of Truman's life has been broadcast live 24 hours a day on the TV show 'The Truman Show.' The town he lives in is a massive set, and all the residents, including his wife and best friend, are actors. Beginning to feel that something is off about the world he lives in, he frantically tries to uncover the truth... Jim Carrey plays the protagonist Truman, and Ed Harris plays the show's producer. The film won Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor at the 56th Golden Globe Awards. Directed by Peter Weir ('Witness'), with a screenplay by Andrew Niccol ('Gattaca').
